BRITISH SUMMER SCHOOL – ENGLISH, ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE
DAY SCHOOL DATES: 2nd July – 13th July 8– 15 years
“Scientists dream about doing great things. Engineers do them!”
At King’s College, The British School of Murcia we offer the opportunity to take part in this two week programme to all students who wish to develop their skills in computer science and engineering, all in English!
This brand new summer course is for those students who have a love for this area. The most important aspect of computer science is problem solving, an essential skill for life. Students will study the design, development and analysis of software and combine that with the challenges of engineering projects and skills, which will need you to show creativity and initiative. As part of the projects you will also learn the essential vocabulary needed to communicate your ideas and understand the methods involved in each one.
Our Summer School takes place at Kings College, The British School of Murcia situated on La Torre Golf Resort. The building is used as a school throughout the year and welcomes pupils from the age of Pre-Nursery to Year 13. In this way, the pupils gradually progress in order to take their final school exams with us and consequently move on to university studies.
From its beginnings in 1969, King’s College has forged an excellent reputation for its high standards in academia and magnificent results with students who go to the best universities in Great Britain, United States, Spain and other countries.
The main focus of the 2 week programme is the use of LEGO robots. One activity will involve the children programming the robots to dance to music and will enable them to develop their creativity, problem solving and logical thinking skills. The children will also use 3D design software and will design enhancements for the LEGO Robots, which can then be printed using the new 3D Printer.
