Dear Parents,

After a hiatus of a couple of weeks, I am writing to you happy to be back home in Murcia. Since I last wrote to you, much has happened in school, with some of our senior pupils attending a successful Student Leadership Weekend in Madrid.

As you will recall, last week I was in London attending various board meetings and also the AoBSO conference. It was a hugely informative and busy conference (especially for me and my two colleagues from Qatar, as we are members of the board). There were some very interesting seminars regarding the future of education (with specific reference to A.I.) and also current research, in terms of high performing educational systems. Of course, there was more besides this and both Mr Snowden and I returned enthused and looking forward to the new heights to which we will be taking KCM.

I have now received what I hope to be the final draft of our inspection report from October. Once this is approved, we will see the results released to the public and, of course, to you personally and on our website.

Next week, we will hold our first inter-house dance competition on Monday, starting at 1500. Parents are of course welcome to watch. This will take place in the Theatre.

Sadly we have been blighted by illness in recent weeks (and bereavement) with different staff away at different times. Thankfully, Mr Hope, Ms Thompson and Ms Guilar have returned, but unfortunately Mrs Mirfield and Miss Shreeve are away at present.

Mr Green is also no longer with us and sends you this message: ‘After almost 8 years with King’s, I feel it is time for me to move on to the next chapter and new challenges with my career.  I would like to express my thanks to all those staff and parents who have supported me throughout my time at KCM. I wish you all the very best for the future.’ Of course, we are sad to see Mr Green go and thank him for all his work over the last eight years.

After a long absence, we are very happy to see the return of Mrs Moss in Year 4 and so we will be saying ‘Farewell’ to Mr Bland who covered her class during her absence. We are also pleased that Sra Martinez Cano has settled in well and is enjoying her temporary post, covering for Sra Balsalobre.

I, too, have noticed the sudden onset of cold weather and we have been very pleased with how smart our children are looking in their navy blue/black coats. I would like to thank you all for your cooperation in this and just remind you that if you are unsure whether your child’s clothing complies with the uniform code, then please do consult the website or speak to your child’s teacher. Thank you again.

Many of our older pupils have been taking ‘mock’ examinations for GCSE and A-Level. I am sure they have done well, but will also have made mistakes. From these, they should take heart and remember that it is from our mistakes that we learn the most.

Next week, we will be enjoying a short week, as we have the national holiday and puente – the Christmas Fayre will soon be upon us!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mr Rumistrzewicz
