Dear Parents,

Yesterday our brave COBIS team departed for the UK. I hope you have been able to follow some of the action live here. Like last year, we streamed the action live in the school, much to everyone’s excitement – well done everyone!

This week also saw the start of our written exam season with GCSE and A-level examinations taking place. Of course, these will continue throughout the rest of this term and slightly after. As always, we wish all our candidates the best of luck – though I’m sure they won’t need it!

A few notices….

A reminder that calendar dates for the next academic year 2018-2019 have now been published and can be downloaded here. Please note that the local holiday days for 2019 are yet to be published.

A further reminder for our upcoming anniversary Ball. If you are attending, please complete the form here giving your name, contact details, number of guests and their names or send the details by email to

The deadline for reservations and deposits is Friday 25th May. All outstanding payments must be received by 30th May.

For those who would like to stay at the hotel after the event, this is available also for an additional discounted cost which also includes a breakfast option. This can be booked directly with the Hotel on their website with the discount code KCOLLEGE10 on the hotel website.

I am sure that you have already received many reminders from the various ‘apps’ you may have on your devices regarding the new GDPR legislation. King’s Group have been working on this for some time now and we are in the process of sending out information ‘groupwide’.

In the meantime, please be advised that all current permissions are still in effect until the end of term, in accordance with EU advice and guidelines for schools. However, there will be some paperwork to do in the new academic year!

With the continued absence of some of our Spanish team, we have appointed a temporary teacher, Cristina Belmonte Aranda, who will join the team until the end of term. She will replace Srta Herreros (Ada) who was unfortunately ill last week and will now not be returning to school.  There will be a separate letter from our Head of Spanish regarding general staffing in the department for the rest of term.

Due to Mrs Fellows’ continued absence, I am sorry to say that the recitals scheduled for next week will not take place. Apologies once again.

As some of you will know, Mrs Green has now begun her maternity leave and I am sure you will all join me in wishing her well. Mr Morter-Laing will be in charge of KS4 for the rest of the academic year in her absence. From September 2018, until Mrs Green’s return, Mr Green will oversee Year 10 and Mr Morter-Laing will oversee Year 11.

Next week marks the beginning of a four week period in which I will be involved in much travelling, either to the UK or to Madrid for various Conferences and meetings and also the founding of a new organisation! Please be aware that in my absence, Mr Snowden will deputise and, in his absence, Mr Green and Mrs Stackhouse will also be on hand.

Mon 21st May COBIS team returns (late night)
Tues 22nd May ‘Especificas’ examinations begin
Thurs 24th May ‘Especificas’ (for our students) end

To congratulate all of the Year 8 and 9 students who travelled to Madrid last week to take part in the King’s Games. We had some major successes and medal winners. Please do watch out for the article on our website.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to watch our team in Sheffield!

Mr. Rumistrzewicz
