On Saturday 20th and Sunday the 21st October, some of the King’s College Murcia girls had an invaluable opportunity to be coached from Ama Agbeze (the captain of the England netball team!) who recently won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games and Mikki Austin, a superleague netball player. The girls were taught a range of drills, techniques and skills from these two top athletes. Additionally, a netball tournament with schools from England was held on both days. Whilst the weather in many areas of Murcia was very wet, luckily in La Manga, it remained dry and did not prevent the tournament from going ahead. The King’s College Murcia girls played extremely well against teams that compete regularly in netball competitions and have been playing together for many years. We had two teams this year and we were in both group A and B of the competition. In group A we came third and in group B we came second.
In group A, Isabella, Laura and Triniti were voted players of the match and in group B, Carmen, Lucia and Izzy were voted players of the match – Izzy being the youngest player in the tournament. The girls from King’s showed great team spirit and Mr Ryland, Ms Thompson and I could not have been more proud of them.
Well done to all the King’s girls that took part; Isabella, Grace, Laura, Marina, Triniti, Carmen, Lucia, Sofia CM, Sofia CR, Tia and Isabel.
