On Monday the 1st of October, King’s College Murcia hosted the first inter-school event of the year, which was the swimming gala. Once again using the beautiful facility in San Javier, we invited 5 other schools to take part including our sister school from Alicante.

The day started with the 100m individual medleys with Brodie. S securing a second place finish. The rest of our students all competed well, gaining valuable points for the school. Next, we had the heats for all the 50m separate strokes including freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke. Once again, King’s College Murcia competed well with many of the students achieving top 6 positions (out of 18) in very competitive races. However, the standout performances have to go to Brodie. S, Maria. A and Marta. C who took the individual golds in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke respectively (pictured).

We finished the day with an extravaganza of relays, all worth double points. King’s College Murcia secured a lot of top 3 finishes. However the undoubted highlight was the Year 7 boys taking a surprise gold in the 4 x 50m medley!

A great effort overall means that KC Murcia secured 3rd place overall, an outstanding improvement on last year. Congratulations to our sister school in Alicante on taking 1st place. A huge well done must also go to our developing Year 10 Sports Leadership team who timed all the races, as well as lead by example.
