Welcome to our final issue of the Early Years hub for this academic year! It is hard to believe that only a few months ago we had a snowy day, and now we need sun cream! We have reached the end of another fantastic year in our department. All our children have blossomed and are ready for their next adventure with their next year group. In our final month, we have taken part in moving up day, a lovely time for the children to meet their new teacher and see their new classroom. They have taken part in some fantastic Summer activities, and have continued to have fun at the same time!
Let’s have a look at what they have been up to this month!
We have come to the final month of this academic year in Pre-Nursery; and to celebrate we went to Parchis Park! We had so much fun going down the slippery slides, landing in the ball pit and jumping very high on the trampolines! We also ate lunch there which was yummy! On the way home, our teachers thought we would fall asleep, but we were so excited that we chatted to our friends the whole way home!
This month has been so hot, so in Nursery Yellow, we have been doing lots of things to cool us down . We made some chocolate milkshakes using cold milk and freezing cold vanilla ice cream and had great fun adding squirty cream and mini chocolate chip cookies. It was delicious and very, very cold!! We have been in the paddling pool this month and the children were so happy that they could splash their friends and their teachers!! We have been drinking lots of water, wearing our hats in the sun and making sure that we regularly apply our suncream which we can do independently!!
It has been very hot in the last few weeks, so we have practised counting and filling different vessels with different measuring cups. We learnt that the measuring cup has to be full and that we needed to count very carefully!
This month we decided to take full advantage of the warm weather and do some learning outside. We enjoyed finding out one more and one less using giant numbers in the corridor and jumping to them. The children put their fantastic reading skills into practice and used letter cubes to create words to match pictures, and they loved using the climbing wall in their P.E. lesson!
We finished this year with a special presentation assembly for the children, to celebrate their achievements throughout the academic year. We also said a special thank you to our interns Abbey and Laura, who are leaving us. They have had a brilliant year and we wish them the best of luck in the future. Mrs. Dadd will also be leaving the Key Stage, and moving up with her children into Key Stage and building on the good progress already made. We will be sorry to see her go.
On behalf of all the staff in the department, thank you for taking the time to read our news each month. We hope it has given you an idea of how fantastic the children are in Early Years, and just how hard they work! We will continue to keep you updated after the Summer when we start our next year together.
Have a wonderful holiday!
