Another busy week draws to a close at KCM. As ever we have continued to be vigilant with regard to the health and safety of all of our community, amidst the rising number of COVID cases in the region, strictly enforcing our protocols and following government guidance. I continue to be very proud of the response from our staff, pupils and you the parents, during this difficult and challenging time, where situations (and restrictions) seem to change almost daily. Now more than ever before, we must all work together to keep eachother safe, following government guidance regarding travel and being patient. As I said before, together we will get through these difficult times and come out the stronger for it, I am sure.
In school, our older pupils have continued with their International A-level examinations this week and we have also enjoyed an excellent presentation and Q&A session regarding entry to Spanish University. As you know, A-levels continue to be the ‘Gold Standard’ qualification internationally and are an excellent way to ensure your child’s entry into the best universities both domestically and in the rest of the world. If you would like us to re-send the link for both the English and the Spanish versions, then please let us know.
A message from Mrs Akyurek:
I hope you have all had a good week. Restrictions and concerns about the current situation are still very much in all of our minds. We are working hard to ensure the safety of all the children and staff here at school. Thank you for your emails and comments supporting the work we are doing! The children and older students are busy with a clear focus on their learning. I have been visiting classrooms and meeting with groups of students. I am impressed with their positive attitude to school and the kindness they show to their friends. I will continue to meet more formally with the children and students at “tea parties” where they have a chance to show me their learning and talk about the things they like about school.
It is so good to have the buzz of happy, excited children in the School after the quietness of the lockdown weekends and evenings. I have been impressed with the way the new children and staff have hit the ground running, and the helpfulness shown by so many of those who were here last year and know the routines. My first assembly of the term for the Primary and Secondary children was a short presentation about me, my family and the things I like to do. It is really good to be welcomed so warmly to a school!
Breakfast with the Head (Pre-N-Year 13)
I am very much looking forward to meeting with parents next week. If you cannot make the event, I will also be holding more virtual coffee afternoons later in the term to give all parents the opportunity to attend. The purpose of these meetings is to give you an opportunity to tell me what you like about the school and share in our efforts to make small improvements which have a lasting impact on the children and young people of King’s College Murcia. “
