Dear Parents,

Now that we have our first full week back ‘under our belts’, I thought it would be a good opportunity for Mrs Akyurek to write to you. So this week, we will start with a message from her:

¨Dear Parents,

I hope that you and your family have had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year  holiday and I am sure that your children are looking forward to the new term with anticipation.

It is a real privilege for me to welcome you all back to school as the new Headteacher of King’s College Murcia.  I am keen to meet new parents and pupils and I have no doubt that I will soon be able to chat to some of you at school events. I will also be arranging regular occasions to which you are welcome to come  (online) and share your thoughts with me.

Mr Rumistrzewicz and I will be working closely together over the next few months to ensure a smooth handover. At the moment I am meeting with all members of staff individually and have been very impressed with the positive attitude and comments of the school team. I am delighted to be here and back in Spain.

I believe that education is a co-operative venture which requires good, two-way communication between school and home. We will continue to strive for excellence in all areas of school life: I want all our pupils to be ambitious to fulfil their academic potential, to love coming to school and to take an active role in the life of the school community. I am keen to work with you all for the benefit of our children and young people.

I will be at the school gate mornings and at the end of the school day and your children can expect to see me regularly in their classrooms, around the corridors and at lunchtime as I sample their lessons and watch them learn.

I am looking forward to meeting you at school events over the next few weeks. I wish you and your families an excellent school year!¨

This week, our older pupils continued with their A-level exams in certain subjects and also, I am delighted to say, received some excellent results from their exams in October. Our results in all the Sciences and in Business Studies from the October series of papers, were the best our pupils at KCM have ever achieved at this stage of the year and it is a real credit to their hard work and dedication, particularly during the lockdown period. Well done to them all!

Just a few notices this week….

RE-ENROLMENT 2021

Further to our last reminder, please could  you confirm your child/children’s places for the academic year 2021- 2022. In order to do so, please complete the Google Form (https://bit.ly/35qY5Lv) by 31st  January.

Please bear in mind that we need to receive official confirmation so that we can guarantee spaces for the next academic year and so make the necessary academic arrangements. If you have decided not to re-enrol your child(ren), please let us know so that we can confirm spaces for the new pupils currently on the waiting list.

If you do not wish to re-enrol your child for the school year 2021-2022, please give notice by stating so in the Google Form. In this regard, please be advised that no refund of the returnable deposit will be made if notice is given later than 1st April 2021, as one full term’s notice should be given, as set out in our policy. …AND FINALLY

With the continued cold weather and COVID protocols, our students have been extremely resilient which, perhaps a little paradoxically, has been extremely ‘heartwarming’. Even so, with the further increase in travel and social restrictions, please stay safe and have a good rest over the weekend.

Best wishes and see you on Monday.

Mr Rumistrzewicz
