As a new year has begun, I am delighted to welcome you all back to KCM after the Christmas break. Despite the restrictions, I do hope you managed to spend some ‘quality’ time with your loved ones. After the eventful year that has passed, I trust that 2021 will see us return to some semblance of normality as soon as possible. Of course, until such time, we will continue to maintain the high standards of health and safety within our school, strictly following all of our protocols and government guidance, to ensure the wellbeing of all of our community.
I am sure that you will join me in sending our best wishes to Carlos, who had a new addition to his family just before Christmas. So this is obviously a very happy time for him and his partner. Carlos will now be on paternity leave until the end of this term.
My assembly with the pupils today focussed on ‘pressing the reset button’ – metaphorically speaking. At the start of a year, many of us make resolutions, whether it is to start doing something or to stop doing something. However, I did also say that really we should be mindful of the ‘reset button’ throughout the year and not just at the beginning of it. Everyday gives us an opportunity to reflect on past actions and look to improve, whether it be our attitudes to others, behaviours or habits.
Today, in this short week, we welcomed some new members of staff. Mrs Gilmour has joined our Primary team and Mr Carlson has joined the Maths department in Secondary. They are both excited about their start today and looking forward to getting to know you and your children. Equally excited is Mrs Akyurek, who, as you know, will be taking over from me towards the end of this term. Mrs Akyurek brings with her a wealth of experience as a Headteacher and was also the Chief Academic Officer of King’s Group a few years ago. She greeted all the pupils today and has been on a tour of the school to refresh her memory from past visits.
Just a few notices this week….
As you know, places at King’s College are in great demand, so in order to guarantee a place for your child(ren), we need you to confirm their places for the academic year 2021- 2022. In order to do so, please complete the Google Form (https://bit.ly/35qY5Lv) by 31st January.
Please bear in mind that we need to receive official confirmation so that we can guarantee spaces for the next academic year and so make the necessary academic arrangements. If unfortunately you have decided not to re-enrol your child(ren), please let us know so that we can confirm spaces for the new pupils currently on the waiting list.
If you do not wish to re-enrol your child for the school year 2021-2022, please give notice by stating so in the Google Form. In this regard, please be advised that no refund of the returnable deposit will be made if notice is given later than 1st April 2021, as one full term’s notice should be given, as set out in our policy. Deposit refunds will be expected to be made at the beginning of July 2021.
The uniform shop will continue to be open as usual. However, please ensure that you have booked an appointment beforehand by ring the shop 968033539 or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . Many thanks.
Parent Consultation Day
Thank you for your positive feedback regarding the consultation day at the end of last term. As with new systems, we had one or two glitches. However, on the whole things ran very smoothly so thank you again for your patience and cooperation. We will look to continue to improve this system for the next round of meetings.
It has been wonderful to see all the pupils back in today. We are aware of the reintroduction of the previous travel restrictions that we had in the Murcia region. Therefore, if you require a permission letter to travel to school, please inform reception.
Also, just a quick message to wish the very best of luck to all our older students taking exams over the next few weeks.
Stay safe everyone and see you on Monday.
