I would like to start my letter this week by thanking you all for your diligence in respecting our protocols during this difficult time. Indeed, it is because of this and our staff’s and pupils’ equal pragmatism that we have been able to handle our first COVID case within our community with such calm and prudence. As I mentioned in my message to you on Tuesday, we take the health, safety and wellbeing of our whole community with the utmost seriousness. So I am immensely proud of how our community has come together in its support, not only of the government guidelines, but also of the extra measures we at KCM put in place within our bubbles for older pupils. Although, these may have seemed very strict, they have proven to be effective in enabling our students to continue their learning with some degree of normality.
Our student council has also been most helpful with their suggestions, especially within the dining hall. Thus far, our systems for containing bubbles within the dining room have been hugely successful, but there is always room for improvement. Together with the council, we are now looking at how we can reduce plastic waste from water bottles, whilst maintaining cleanliness and health & safety protocols. Again, another example of our excellent students supporting the community.

I trust you have found this week’s presentations informative and have enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions online during the Q&A session. We will, of course, be holding more of these throughout the year to ensure good lines of communication.
A brief note to let you know that the school shop will be closed from Friday 25th September to Tuesday 13th October. After which time the usual appointment system will continue. Many thanks for your understanding in this matter.

Congratulations must go to our newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl, Joaquin and Carmen. I am sure they will lead and represent our student body admirably. I would also like to thank all the other candidates who submitted their presentations and to congratulate them on a hard fought election campaign. They will be joining Joaquin and Carmen as deputies, prefects and representatives in the school council.
