Dear Parents,

I trust you have all enjoyed the transition into Phase 2 here in Murcia and the increased freedoms it has brought. I confess that it has been good to have a little more freedom to walk around our village at less restrictive times. It is also a relief to see the continued decline in new cases in Spain, thanks to the stirling work of our medical experts and, indeed, to everyone following governmental guidelines during the lockdown. By continuing to work together, we will overcome this situation. Of that, I am certain.

In school this week, we welcomed Mr Nicholas Wergan, the European Education Director of Inspired Group. When I say ‘welcomed’, what I mean to say is that Mr Wergan visited a number of virtual lessons, together with me and members of the leadership team. We all very much enjoyed the experience, seeing such excellent teaching across a range of ages in Primary and Secondary. Here are a few words from him:

‘It was a real privilege to spend a morning dropping into our virtual classrooms, and seeing such great learning taking place. Congratulations to all our students for engaging so positively with online learning and for the vigour and effort they were clearly putting into their lessons; the character they are developing and showing will be so powerful for them in the future. Thanks are especially due to the great staff team at King’s Murcia for their innovation and dedication in ensuring student learning is uninterrupted. I was highly impressed with the engaging resources, skillful questioning, individualised support and careful checking of learning that was taking place in all the virtual classrooms I dropped into.’

As ever, we are continuing to monitor the physical and mental wellbeing of our whole community. I know many of you have taken advantage of the increased availability of our counsellor, Srta. Sanz. Please do take advantage of this service. Also, I hope you have had a chance to read the article I shared with you last week. If not here is the link again:

Mr Carlos Campos will give you all the information and assistance you may need.

….and finally…..

Just to let you know, we have been continuing to visit the school during this last week and making sure preparations are in place for our return – in whatever form that will take.

Stay safe everyone and have a great weekend.

Best wishes,

Mr Rumistrzewicz
