Dear Parents,

I am writing to you today from our annual Professional Development Weekend (PDW), held at our sister school, King’s College Soto de Viñuelas in Madrid. We are looking forward to a weekend of excellent talks and workshops on a large variety of topics from ‘Outdoor Learning’ to ‘Teaching Health Education’ and from ‘Middle Leadership’ to ‘Tech and e-learning: 3D Printing’. There will also be an opportunity to have cross-departmental meetings with colleagues in one’s department, thus sharing good practice and moderation. All in all, an excellent choice (96!) of topics from which to choose and attend, with almost 500 staff from across the group converging on Madrid.

As in previous years, lessons will resume as normal on Tuesday following the PDW; that is Tuesday 19th February.

PARENT PORTAL

You will have noticed that our website has undergone many changes over the last month or so. We are still ‘tweaking’ a few things. Also, there has been an update to our Management Information System, iSAMS. This is just to give you all advance warning that the parent portal address will be changing on 21st February to the following URL: kcsmurcia.students.isams.cloud

Many thanks.

PROJECT LOMBOK

As many of you will know, Dr Browne has a friend in Indonesia who is helping to rebuild a school in the region of Lombok since the earthquake. We decided to hold a fund-raiser in order to raise money to help buy furniture for a classroom there, by selling hot chocolate at the school.

On the day we managed to raise almost 300Euros (or 4,769 569 Rupiah!). We have already received a message of thanks and pictures of the furniture will be coming soon. We will also be discussing this with the Charity Group and Pupil Voice, as to how we may be able to help for the future.

VALENTINE’S DISCO

Although Valentine’s Day is technically on the 14th February, we will be celebrating here on Wednesday 20th with our annual Primary Valentine’s Disco. As always, this event will be organised and run by our excellent 6th Formers. Any child from Year 3 to Year 6, who would like to attend the disco (and enjoy the snacks) will need to bring 2Euro.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Mon 18th Feb No lessons. School closed to pupils.
Friday 22nd Feb UNED Presentation to Y13 parents

…AND FINALLY

This week, the Primary Interhouse chess began with a victory for Gaudi house over Cervantes. The competition continues next week; ‘good luck’ to both Churchill and Newton.

Have a great weekend.

With my best wishes,

Mr Rumistrzewicz
