On Friday 13th of April, King’s College Murcia came together to celebrate 10 Years of being an British school in Murcia. On a sunny afternoon, pupils, staff and parents, along with Elena Benito (King´s Group CEO), Nicholas Fry (Vice Chairman of the Kings Group) and both the Mayors of Torre Pacheco and Roldan gathered together as one family in a ceremony to mark this special occasion.
All our guests took part in a very significant opening ceremony that consisted of many different speeches, including our Headteacher, Mr Rumistrzewicz, our Head Boy and Head Girl and some of our distinguished guests. We all enjoyed listening to KS2 singing some specially prepared and beautiful songs and also watched dancers from the Secondary School perform some amazing routines. We then celebrated those students who have been at the school from the very first day in 2007. Finally we had a cutting of a ceremonial cake to finish off the ceremony before Mr Rumistrzewicz declared our afternoon officially open. We had many stalls on offer from local companies and organisations, such as The La Torre Intercontinental Hotel, Terra Natura with Pony rides and the ever popular Bouncy Castles. We also had many school stalls, including Pupil Voice tombola and ‘Hook a duck’, plus ‘Sponge the teacher’ and a ‘Coconut Shy’. Lots of food was on offer with Paella, Churros and a Barbeque. Pupils could buy cakes and drinks to enjoy a great day.
Special thanks must go to the wonderful band, ‘The Factory’, who played throughout the afternoon, ably led by our very own parent, Mr Conesa.
At the end of the day both staff and parents came together to play a football match to honour our special day as one family!
Thanks to all who came and made it such a wonderful event. Here’s to the next 10 years!
